Welcome to the Potomac Rugby Union's web page for HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS RUGBY. High School Rugby is one of the USA's fastest growing sports. In this area, high school rugby has grown from a few teams and just dozens of players in the late 90's to nearly 30 teams, and more being added every year with over one thousand players today.

If you've come to this site because you know about rugby in general, you're probably wondering what makes high school rugby different. It's a sport that encompasses skills and athleticism from many other sports, and can help make you a well-rounded athlete.

This game is for you. We promise you'll have fun and want to come back for more.

Mom and Dad, you will love this game and be very happy your daughter is playing.

Tell your mom and dad about it. Tell all your friends and neighbors. Find a club in your area. If there isn't a club near you, call us - we'll help you get a new club started, and help you find coaching.

Advisory on HS Girls playing for Senior Women's Clubs

Any senior women's club interested in playing a player under the age of 18 and/or still in high school should obtain written permission/waiver from the player's parents or guardians before the player engages in practice or a game. The waiver/permission form is available for download from the USA Rugby website.

We also highly recommend that the club's leadership -- possibly including the executive leadership, team captain, and head coach -- speak with the player and her parents prior to obtaining the signed permission/waiver.

In general, we would strongly advise against allowing any player under the age of 16 to play with a senior club.

If there are any questions, please contact the PRU President and the HS divisional director.
