| | The New Zealand Ambassador's Shield match is to promote and publicize the amateur sport of Rugby in the United States by making grants to organizations and individuals supporting the Foundation's goals and by sponsoring programs that encourage the development of youth rugby and support the education and training of coaches, referees and players.
The Shield match is played annually in early November between a representative side of New Zealand expatriates and the Mid-Atlantic RFU's Senior Men's All-Star team. Over the years the event has continued to grow as has the quality of the rugby. The match now showcases some of the best rugby you will see in the USA. The value of the fixture has not been lost on the MARFU side either. Since 2003, the game has been used as a warm up for the National tournament, helping them raise their performance at this event.
More importantly the event has benefited the Hyde School Rugby Club (see this article).

| | Positive Coaching Alliance, a national non-profit based at
Stanford University, is creating a movement to transform
the culture of youth sports so that every youth athlete can
have a positive, character-building experience.
When the adults involved with youth sports understand and
play their appropriate roles, youth sports becomes a beautiful experience, in which youth athletes—from grade school
through high school—learn lessons that will last a lifetime.
To that end, PCA provides live and online workshops to train
youth sports leaders, coaches, parents and athletes how to
Honor the Game. At the core of our training are techniques
proven to improve athletic performance and the principle
that every child deserves a Double-Goal CoachTM, one who
strives to win while achieving the second, more important
goal of using sports to teach life lessons.
Join our school and youth sports organization partners, supporters and National Advisory Board
in transforming youth sports so sports can transform youth.

Alexandria Youth Rugby, TC Williams HS Rugby and our $2K Alexandria Rugby Scholarship through the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, but we'd like to do much more; therefore, we're taking advantage of our partnership w/ O'Connell's to fundraise and increase membership during the RWC through various raffles and drawings as well as gathering contact info. Please join us for all the fun of this exciting rugby event and to support a local business as well as a local rugby organization doing good, hard work to develop local rugby while making a positive impact on our community.
